By becoming a Portfolio Program Sponsor, an organization can help its physicians fulfill ABMS Program for Maintenance of Certification (ABMS MOC®) Improvement in Medical Practice (Part IV) requirements through quality, performance, and process improvement initiatives (QI/PI) that also can set best practices for patient care and organizational operations.
As a Portfolio Program Reviewer, professionals with QI/PI expertise or broad medical knowledge in a specialty assist with evaluating the applications submitted by organizations that wish to become Program Sponsors. Program Reviewers also may review the initiatives of current Program Sponsors to determine compliance with Portfolio Program Standards and Guidelines.
The MOC Activity Manager (MOCAM) supports Program Sponsor, Program Reviewer, and physician participation in the Portfolio Program. It provides an environment where Portfolio Program staff and ABMS Member Boards can evaluate, offer feedback, and award MOC credit/points to physicians for their involvement in a particular QI/PI initiative.
